UNT- International (UNT-I) is the administrative unit charged with directing all aspects of UNT's international operations and partnerships. UNT-I is a growing and strongly supported organization, and is central to the university's strategic internationalization.
In collaboration with more than a dozen colleges, schools and academic programs, UNT-I is aggressively expanding the university's global reach. The division serves more than 2,600 international students and more than 100 foreign scholars with departments and offices ranging from International Student and Scholar Services to the Intensive English Language Institute.
The Study Abroad Center is the UNT-I office responsible for directing the university's study abroad and student and faculty exchange programs. Study Abroad has a mandate to expand student participation, to develop a greater number of UNT faculty-led programs, and to move beyond the traditional conceptions of semester-long student exchange and develop new opportunities to meet the unique needs of various subsets of the student body that may not have been able to access or afford foreign experiences in the past.
UNT International is seeking to hire a Director I (Director of Study Abroad)
Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
* Leads the development and refinement of policies and procedures for study abroad exchanges, affiliations, scholarships, risk management and faculty-led programs to ensure conformity with university goals and objectives and best practices in the U.S. higher education.
* Leads Study Abroad to provide information, advising and other support for students interested in gaining overseas experience.
*Works with UNT faculty members to develop innovative new faculty-led study abroad and field experiences.
*Collaborates with senior leadership, to develop funding support; including endowments, scholarships and financial aid for education abroad.
*Leads Study Abroad operations including staff management, planning, fiscal management, developing approaches to enhance quality of programs, service and communication, developing and maintaining innovative marketing practices and assessment of student learning outcomes and faculty/student satisfaction.
*Works with UNT's Budget Office, Student Accounting and Registrar to ensure compliance of university approved funding model for faculty led programs.
*Works with the Study Abroad Advisory Committee to set the goals, priorities and assessment for the study abroad programs.

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in related field and six years of closely related professional experience.
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
*Master's degree in related field and 3-5 years of professional experience in study abroad or related areas
*At least 2-3 year supervisory experience; experience in proposal or program development; prior international travel, living or working experience.
*Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations; demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and record of successful team building.
*Ability to analyze data, interpret and utilize results.
*Knowledge and experience dealing with automated processes and technology related to study abroad programs.
