Position Summary: The Office of Equity and Inclusion invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed term Equal Opportunity Coordinator position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Executive Director.
Under the supervision of the Senior Equity Associate, the Equal Opportunity Coordinator provides case management, coordination, and project management for the Equal Opportunity Unit.
The Equal Opportunity Coordinator's diverse activities are performed independently in an environment that is highly sensitive and confidential, and critical to successful delivery of the university's mission. This position has access to highly sensitive, confidential information and must maintain absolute discretion at all times.
Special working conditions for this position include working with agitated and/or upset students, employees, and/or community members. The Equal Opportunity Coordinator must maintain a calm, reassuring, and sympathetic manner. The Equal Opportunity Coordinator works under frequent short deadlines and multiple time demands.
Position Duties: 60% Data Collection/Reporting/Case Management
Serves as initial contact for students, parents, staff, faculty, and public by phone, in person, and email; provides information and explanations about policies, procedures, and processes related to discrimination, discriminatory harassment, bullying, and retaliation. Makes situation-appropriate referrals for students, parents, staff, faculty, and public.
Provides case management coordination; tracks all cases brought to Equal Opportunity until conclusion has been reached. Creates case files; identifies and monitors deadlines; verifies accuracy and completeness of closed cases. These processes are highly confidential and require specific attention to detail and accuracy.
Assists with case processes and actions, including locating, assembling, and summarizing materials in support of grievances and accommodations. Composes and edits confidential and general correspondence and reports.
Maintains Equal Opportunity records and data management systems; files and retrieves pertinent case-related information; retains and disposes of confidential files in accordance with records retention regulations. Prepares term and annual reports, and other data-driven reports as requested.
35% Equal Opportunity Unit Operations
Coordinates unit operations. Maintains and improves systems; makes and implements recommendations for operations enhancements.
Maintains electronic records for unit's protocols and practices.
Coordinates the calendars of investigators. Reviews requests for time and gauges them against the needs of the investigators. Applies independent judgment to evaluate priorities, necessity, and appropriate adjustments to schedules in order to accommodate emerging needs.
Handles scheduling requirements for time, logistics, technology and materials for complex meetings; addresses incoming requests for meetings; prepares materials and staffs meetings as needed; anticipates schedule needs. Answers telephones, providing general and/or specific information to callers; refers or routes inquiries to other appropriate offices; greets and receives office visitors
5% Service and other activities
Provide service to university and surrounding community, including participation on university committees and in campus/community activities related to diversity, equity, equal opportunity, and affirmative action. Additional responsibilities as assigned, including opportunities for growth in other areas of interest related to equity, inclusion, and diversity.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OAR 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications: Experience with OSU database systems Banner and Data Warehouse.
Experience with data management programs and/or commercial data management software.
Multilingual and/or multicultural with a preference for languages/cultures that are increasingly represented at OSU, such as Spanish/Latin-American, Mandarin Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Deaf Culture/American Sign Language.
Education, training, or experience that broadens the range of perspectives currently represented in the office.
Demonstrated ability to network, engage in outreach, and build community.
