The Office of Assessment and Evaluation within the Department of Academic Affairs is a seeking a faculty member at the Instructor level. The incumbent will report to the Assistant Dean for Assessment and works collaboratively to advance assessment and continuous quality improvement in support of the school's mission of excellence in education and in accordance with accreditation standards. The position provides data management for large longitudinal datasets and statistical expertise in the analysis, interpretation and reporting of outcomes data related to program quality, student competence, and school-level graduate outcomes. Position requires a Master's Degree (PhD or EdD preferred) in educational assessment, measurement, social sciences, or a related field and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience, preferably in a higher education or medical school setting. Expertise in the principles of educational assessment, and statistical analysis, and research methods using parametric and non-parametric techniques and quantitative and qualitative methods is required. Proficiency in the use of statistical software (SPSS preferred), databases, spreadsheets, pivot charts and Microsoft Office Suite required. Strong organizational skills and excellent written, oral and presentation communication skills required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborates in the development and implementation of SOM's learning assessment plan.
Assists in identifying current and innovative assessment best practices and provides technical input into the selection, design and development of assessments that measure student learning and program effectiveness.
Builds and manages large datasets and maintains the systematic collection and data entry of longitudinal student admissions and performance data, national testing data, match results and graduate outcomes.
Provides statistical expertise in the analysis, interpretation and reporting of outcomes data related to program quality, student competence, and institutional effectiveness.
Reviews and interprets data and makes recommendations to the Deans.
Compiles and prepares data charts/tables, presentations and reports for SOM, the University, accrediting bodies, and other organizations.
Assists the Program Evaluation and Student Assessment Committee in the creation and coordination of all outcomes and competency-based assessment activities and the review, interpretation and use of assessment results to improve instructional and program quality.
Creates and administers assessment and survey instruments to students, faculty, graduates, and residency directors.
Maintains records documenting assessment plans, related implementation activities, and progress towards achieving program and School goals.
Participate in medical education research within the school and across institutions.
Trains faculty in effective assessment methodology, tools, and the use of data to support learning.
Maintains current knowledge regarding assessment requirements of accreditation agencies and monitors performance against expected standards.
Participates in professional development activities to keep current in the field of medical education, assessment, evaluation and research methodologies.
Utilizes academic and curriculum management systems that support data gathering and reporting.
Utilizes computerized systems for the collection, summary and distribution of assessment data.
Assists with special projects and performs other related duties as assigned.
Serves on committees as assigned.

Proficiency in the use of statistical software (SPSS preferred), databases, spreadsheets, pivot charts and Microsoft Office Suite required. Knowledge of Blackboard and curriculum management systems (one45 preferred) a plus. Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail and maintenance of high standard of integrity required. Strong organizational skills and excellent written, oral and presentation communication skills required. Demonstrated ability to work independently, and in a team environment, and effectively collaborate with faculty, administrators, and constituencies at all levels of the organization is essential.
