Programmer/Analyst (Business Intelligence Data Integration Architect/Lead)

The Pennsylvania State University’s Business Intelligence group in Administrative Information Services (AIS) is looking for a highly motivated, strategic minded Business Intelligence Data Integration Architect/Lead. The individual filling this position will play an important role in expanding Penn State's analytical and information capabilities available in support of the University’s business processes and will have extensive career progression opportunities. Specific responsibilities include leading the design, development, and implementation of data integration processes; development of complex data integration processes, using Microsoft SSIS, SQL stored procedures, transact SQL, or other non-microsoft ETL tools; mentoring junior developers; providing tier two operational support; and creating documentation. The ideal candidate has proven experience working as data integration lead, architect, and developer in the implementation of Data Warehousing solutions.

This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience.

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree plus four years of work related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. The preferred knowledge and skills for this position include: Comprehension of all areas of Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing from both technical and business perspectives. Knowledge of student related higher education business processes. Logical data modeling, logical to physical model rationalization, and supporting business requirements analysis. PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Technical Lead experience. Knowledge of the Oracle database management system. The successful candidate will be able to draw from their previous experience to demonstrate competency in the following required skills: Experience in designing and delivering data warehouse/marts Data Integration/Extract Transform and Load components, from specification through end-user acceptance testing, using technology platforms such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Informatica, IBM DataStage, or Oracle Data Integrator. Current working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or 2012, including Integrations Services (SSIS) and SQL Programming. Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into data and application architectures. Exposure to storage, network, server, data integration, and application design principles. Comprehension of full software development lifecycle (requirements, analysis, design, construction and testing). Comprehension of project management processes and practices.
