________________________________________ College of Science and Engineering Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Position: Assistant or Associate Professor Job Posting #: 2015-25 Review Date: October 1, 2014- open until filled Appointment Date: Fall 2015 ________________________________________ Position Description The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Texas State University invites applications for an open rank tenure-track position in any area of biochemistry. The successful candidate will conduct externally funded research in biochemistry, mentor undergraduate and graduate research students in biochemistry, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in chemistry and/or biochemistry. Qualifications Required: For Assistant Professor rank, the candidate must have: 1) Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a closely-related field. 2) Postdoctoral research experience. 3) Record of peer-reviewed publications. 4) Potential to establish an externally-funded research program. 5) Capability to teach courses in chemistry and/or biochemistry. For Associate Professor rank, the candidate must have: 1) Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a closely-related field. 2) Strong record of peer-reviewed publications. 3) Established, externally-funded research program. 4) Experience in teaching courses in chemistry and/or biochemistry. 5) Experience mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students. To be eligible for hire at the associate professor rank, candidate must meet the requirements for that rank as established by the department. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and department established standards. Preferred: 1) Area of teaching and research expertise that complements the department's strengths. 2) Evidence of ability to effectively mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
