Gettysburg College seeks qualified candidates for the position of Director of Financial Services/Controller. The Director of Financial Services/ Controller provides daily leadership and management of the Financial Services department, comprised of Accounting, Financial Reporting, Tax Compliance, Accounts Payable, Cashier, Financial Systems, Payroll, Procurement, Student Accounts, and Student Loans. The Director of Financial Services/Controller is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the College’s financial reporting and general ledger system by ensuring that internal controls are in place and that financial transactions are recorded and reported in accordance with state and federal requirements, generally accepted accounting principles, and College guidelines. In addition, the Director of Financial Services/Controller develops standards and sets expectations within the Financial Service department for effective business processing and excellent internal and external customer service. The position reports directly to the Vice President for Finance and Administration, and assists and advises the Vice President in planning and implementing divisional and College-wide initiatives. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required, CPA preferred. Three to five years of related experience required. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess strong management and analytical capabilities, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. While not required, prior experience in higher education accounting and auditing is a plus, as is prior experience with PeopleSoft application systems.
