The primary focus will be to direct and grow a dynamic information literacy and library instruction program. Required: •Master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association-accredited program •Experience in library instruction or other teaching experience, preferably at the college level •Demonstrated awareness of emerging trends and best practices in information literacy •Experience in utilizing technology in creating and delivering instruction including familiarity with learning management systems •Experience in providing reference assistance in a variety of formats •Excellent communication skills, both oral and written •Ability to manage and meet deadlines •Ability to work collaboratively in an academic community Preferred: •Demonstrated interest in library research in teaching, curriculum design, or information literacy initiatives •Demonstrated commitment to professional development through scholarly research relevant to areas of responsibility including publications, presentations, and participation and leadership in professional associations •Demonstrated experience in course content design according to established information literacy guidelines and standards for both face-to-face and distance learning programs •Demonstrated knowledge and experience with information literacy assessment •Experience serving diverse communities •Experience serving as a liaison to academic units Responsibilities: Reporting to the Chair of Reference and Education Services, the Reference and Instruction Librarian leads and participates in an active library instruction program. This librarian collaborates with faculty outside the library to integrate information literacy into the classroom in support of the teaching and discovery mission of the university; develops web-and print-based materials; locates and creates digital content to support academic instruction; explores, evaluates, and encourages the use of current and emerging technologies in instruction; and develops, promotes, and evaluates extended programs, such as ILIT 1500-Introduction to Information Literacy. Intra-Institutional Responsibilities: The Reference and Instruction Librarian will serve as liaison librarian to one or more academic units and will serve on library and institutional committees as a faculty member. Extra-Institutional Responsibilities: The Reference and Instruction Librarian is expected to be active professionally in local, regional, and national associations and will contribute to the professional literature.
