Position Information:
This is a career position with an end date of June 30, 2015 and the possibility to be extended contingent upon funding availability.

The UC Riverside Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center (LGBT RC) is seeking a Student Affairs Officer to support a diverse team of LGBT professional staff that provides support, education, and advocacy regarding sexual orientation and gender identity/expression for the UC Riverside community and beyond. You will work with center staff, UCR students, and colleagues across a campus ranked nationally as a Top 25 LGBT-Friendly Campus and a Top 10 Trans-Friendly Campus, as well as serving one of the most ethnically diverse student populations ranked 4th in the nation as most diverse. Your duties include providing resources and referrals to the campus community and others accessing the center; managing the center's resource library, and David Bohnett CyberCenter; facilitating student discussion groups; assisting with Community OUTreach Educators' and other student volunteers' training and supervision; assisting with events logistics and program development; and developing the UC Riverside Pride Alumni group. Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience and education in a related field.

Knowledge and understanding of sexual orientation and gender identity theory and issues, especially pertaining to college student populations.

Ability to work with individuals and groups with a wide array of identities and life experiences, including gender, disability, class, race/ethnicity, sexuality, culture, religion, etc.

Ability to exercise independent judgment, communicate and interact successfully with students, staff, faculty and guests.

Ability to serve in a customer service capacity, both on the telephone, in person, and using electronic communication systems, exercising tact and diplomacy with emphasis on flexibility and professionalism.

Skill in maintaining equanimity in the face of resistance, indifference, or hostility.

Skill in working independently and following through on assignments under close supervision, while working in an environment with frequent interruptions.

Skill in creating and editing documents in word processing applications using moderately advanced features, and experience with Internet search engines for data gathering purposes.

Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Preferred Qualifications:
One year post-Bachelor's degree relevant work experience

Ability to supervise student staff.
