Temple University is seeking to hire a part-time language and literacy coach for a grant- funded project which trains preschool, kindergarten and first grade teachers in Lancaster to use high quality language and literacy practices. The coach will work with 6-8 preschool, kindergarten and first grade teachers, providing ongoing, individualized coaching both through web-based and face-to-face coaching. The coach will help teachers plan effective lessons, use high-quality language and literacy strategies in their classrooms, follow their children's learning using a progress monitoring tool, and use data from the tool to inform their instruction. The coach will provide oral and written feedback on teachers' instructional practice via the web and phone. The coach will work collaboratively with several other coaches and researchers on the project as part of a learning community. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related area and at least three years of successful Pre-K-3 classroom teaching experience. Experience in facilitating adult learning and mentoring adults. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills and Abilities: *Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form. *Demonstrated positive interpersonal and collaboration skills and ability to interact with a diverse group of constituents. *Strong coaching skills and ability to support teachers' use of effective instructional strategies in a variety of content areas. *Ability to utilize effective strategies for differentiating instruction. *Occasional travel to Baltimore and Philadelpia for meetings. *Ability to deliver test materials to sites, sometimes multiple sites in one day. *Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Preferred: *Master's degree in Education. *Experience teaching English Language Learners. *Regular practice of participating in workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced coursework which further advance knowledge of current trends in language and literacy instruction.
