Assistant Director, Research Administration
Reporting to the Director of Research Administration, the Assistant Director of Research Administration is primarily responsible for all post-award research administration for the College of Education, though will occasionally assist and support pre-award personnel as needed. The incumbent will manage post-award grant processes, managing own portfolio and assigning and supervising portfolios to one or more research analysts. Responsibilities include but are not limited to grant setup, sub-award processing, project budget analysis and management, payroll distribution and effort reporting, and project closeouts. The position requires a strong customer service orientation and the incumbent must possess the ability to interpret and apply University, College and sponsor policies and procedures. The Assistant Director supervises at least one grant analyst. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in related business discipline and at least four years of research administration or related experience, and experience supervising staff. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills and Abilities: *Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of pre- and post-award procedures and requirements. *Ability to interpret and apply University, College and sponsor policies and procedures. *Demonstrated knowledge of project budgeting and fiscal management. *Strong supervisory skills. *Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Research Administration systems. *Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of faculty, administrators and staff. *Excellent written and oral communication skills. *Ability to prioritize a high volume of work well and focus on completion of tasks.
