Lehman College of The City University of New York is seeking an Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Information Technology Resources.  Reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, the Assistant Vice President supports a highly complex technology environment.  He/She has planning, delivery, operating, and support responsibilities for computing, networking, application development, help desk, multimedia center, web services, telecommunications, instructional technology, and related resources and services at Lehman College.  The College is a public institution in the northwest Bronx with approximately 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students, 15,000 continuing and professional education students, and 2,000 faculty and staff.  The College has a significant commitment to the continued development and enhancement of its information technology infrastructure to support teaching, learning, research, and administrative activities. 

The Information Technology Division is responsible for the planning, operation, and maintenance of the College's technology environment, consistent with Lehman's Strategic Plan, Achieving the Vision, and best practices in IT service management.  The responsibilities of the IT Division include, but are not limited to, overseeing all College data centers, systems, and servers, the Lehman website, computer labs, desktop computers, a complex array of software applications, a multimedia center, and more.  The IT Division also supports aspects of the College's community outreach, distance learning, and STEM initiatives, among other special initiatives.  In addition, the IT Division contributes to several strategic University-wide efforts, including the ongoing implementation of CUNYfirst, an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.  The successful candidate will strengthen the College's digital capabilities consistent with Lehman's strategy to support student success, address faculty and staff needs, and maintain a contemporary technology environment.

The Assistant Vice President will provide leadership for the use of information technology to enable College priorities, providing a clear and unified management direction.  The successful candidate will support the role of Lehman College as a leader in information technology by planning its use within the College.  This includes managing and serving as a project leader for internal teams, working with the College governance structure to obtain input, communicate regarding technology initiatives with students, faculty, staff and administration, and serve as a liaison with members of the larger community.   The Assistant Vice President will support the Vice President and Chief Information Officer in coordinating the implementation of the College's strategic initiatives and those promulgated by CUNY as they impact the College.

The successful candidate will provide direction for a staff of full-time and part-time technical professionals, project-manage critical initiatives, coordinate service-management activities, lead the Technology Fee Process, and support IT-related professional development for students, faculty, and staff to ensure a dynamic environment for teaching and learning.  The successful candidate will oversee the preparation of reports regarding the College IT environment for CUNY, government agencies, and professional and accreditation organizations.  These include, but are not limited to, the Performance Management Process, the CUNY Information Security Attestation, the GASB 51 report, the Educause Core Data Service Report, and the Campus Computing Project.  In addition to managing a robust, efficient, and contemporary technology environment, the Assistant Vice President will collaborate with the College to obtain feedback, improve services, and communicate initiatives.


This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan.  All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.  Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.


Applicants must possess demonstrated senior leadership in the management of a complex, customer-focused information technology environment.  This should include diverse computing, networking, multimedia, application development and web services in support of instruction, research, and administrative activities at an institutional level.  Must possess demonstrated leadership and innovation in planning and developing information technology in a diverse community.  Project, budget, and staff management experience are necessary, preferably at an institution of higher education.  Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written skills are desired, as is certification in ITIL or as a Project Management Professional (PMP).  A Bachelor's degree is required and a Master's degree is desirable.  Candidates should have expertise in managing with a minimum of eight (8) years progressively responsible administrative experience in the field of information technology.


Salary commensurate with experience within the range of Assistant Vice President.  This position is part of the Executive Compensation Plan and serves at the pleasure of the President.
