Job Summary

Working as part of a talented team responsible for UC Irvine's Student Financial Services systems, this Programmer/Analyst III must possess excellent software development experience, experience with relational databases and data modeling, project management skills, and the ability to handle operational maintenance and support of multiple applications. The ideal candidate is an innovative and experienced developer who is passionate about coding, well organized, and consistently delivers projects on time.

 

Candidate must be able to communicate clearly with users, analyze and document user requirements, collect security requirements, and document workflow, data flow diagrams and business rules. Must code, test, debug and maintain multi-user administrative and other database applications in a J2EE environment. Resolve technical problems related to Java, JavaScript, Spring Framework, JPA/Hibernate, DHTML, MySQL and MSSQL, Unix, Eclipse, and understand operating systems.

 

Salary: Range $65,154 - $103,514

Work Schedule: 8-5, M-F

2 Contract Positions.

Final candidate subject to background check.

Job Essential Function 1
Percent of Time: 70%
 
As a member of the Office of Information Technology, provide technical expertise within an assigned business unit/area, usually as a member of a project team, in the analysis, design, development and integration between business applications.  Analyze and document business requirements and design or recommend cost effective solutions. Develop new and maintain existing applications using standard programming languages and development methodologies.  Develop and execute test plans that ensure systems and application integrity and quality. Stay abreast of new trends in development tools and techniques. Assist in developing and maintaining university standards for applications development.
 
Job Essential Function 2
Percent of Time: 30%
 
Provide troubleshooting support for existing applications. Monitor and report to management on the status of project efforts, anticipating / identifying issues that inhibit the attainment of project goals and implement corrective actions. Develop application documentation.
 
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
 
Required:
Three to five years with BA/BS OR one to three years with MA/MS OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
 
Strong technical knowledge, with hands-on experience managing systems development in Unix and Windows computing architecture and environments (e.g., enterprise application integration, Web, Java  object programming and MSSQL). Knowledge of relevant technology, tools, and middleware.
 
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms.
 
Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to work well on cross-functional project teams and foster team commitment to tasks.
 
Good interpersonal skills, able to build and maintain strong relations with users.
 
Desired:
Results oriented with the ability to demonstrate strong creative and analytical problem solving skills.
 
Able to operate as a part of a team organizing, planning, and executing a project from vision to implementation.
 
Strong time management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects.
