GENERAL DUTIES

Directs a college counseling center, integrating counseling services into a comprehensive student development experience.

- Manages a counseling center providing a variety of services such as individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, workshops, classroom instruction, and academic intervention

- Supervises and develops counseling faculty and staff

- Develops department budget and manages fiscal affairs

- Directs planning, evaluation, assessment and marketing of counseling services

- Interfaces with academic departments, other College offices, and student groups to assess program needs and develop appropriate responses

- Participates in inter-divisional programs to increase student success and retention

- Performs related duties as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Director of Counseling will report to the Vice President of Student Affairs or her designee. The responsibilities will include the following: provide strong administrative leadership, supervision and professional development for counseling faculty and staff; develop programs for a diverse student population; coordinate crisis intervention and response protocol; develop and maintain informational materials for the campus community; identify, develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures including individual and group counseling, student outreach, and workshops; establish collaborative relationships with all academic and service departments; provide campus wide workshops for faculty, staff and students; serve as liaison to CUNY Director of Counseling meetings; and evaluate the activities of the center.

On-call responsibility is expected. Some evening and weekend hours are required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have a Doctorate in an appropriate discipline for personal or psychological counseling. NY State licensed or license eligible required. Five (5) years of progressive administrative experience in counseling center administration and supervision required (in a college or university setting strongly preferred). In addition, candidate should possess and demonstrate ability to work with diverse constituencies; have excellent skills in oral and written communication and the utilization of technology. Upon employment, selected candidate will be required to obtain a NY State license.

COMPENSATION

$68,803 - $106,071
