Job Description: The University of Florida Department of Health Outcomes and Policy in the College of Medicine seeks to hire a research-track faculty. We are seeking a scientist with a strong background related to: (1) implementation science and the evaluation of evidenced-based health interventions to promote health and health outcomes across the lifespan and that are applicable across diverse community or clinical practice setting; (2) comparative effectiveness research, clinical and translational research, and the evaluation of the effects of interventions at the individual, community, health care delivery system, and/or policy level, and (3) advanced quantitative methods, multi-level modeling, time-series analyses, econometrics, advanced empirical methods for evaluation of laws and public policies. This position involves working with a large-scale evaluation of innovative Medicaid Programs including a Long Term Care Services and Support Waiver and adults with chronic conditions. The Department of Health Outcomes and Policy has a strong agenda focused on research methods for prevention and implementation science, including health outcomes among vulnerable populations. The Department fosters collaborative relationships with investigators across diverse disciplines, including pediatrics, medicine, biomedical informatics, molecular biology, epidemiology, genetics, psychiatry, behavioral medicine, policy evaluation, and health services and outcomes research. The Department works closely with the Institute for Child Health Policy, Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Medicine, and the UFHealth Cancer Center. Opportunities also exist for collaboration with scientists focused on the health of older adults. The Department, with 17 full-time faculty members and over 80 professional and support staff, provides an exceptional research environment with over $18M annually in extramural funding. The Department is also integrally involved in the University-wide NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program and is specifically responsible for the Implementation Science Program. In addition, the Department collaborates closely with the UF Biomedical Informatics Programs. As part of the Biomedical Informatics Collaboration, the Department houses health care claims and encounter, medical record and patient reported outcome data across a range of adult and pediatric populations. The Department also is linked to the Institute for Child Health Policy, which focuses on risk assessment, prevention, quality of care, and health outcomes for children and youth. The environment provides exciting opportunities to develop multidisciplinary and translational collaborations across the lifespan.
Minimum Requirements: Candidate should have a doctoral degree in an appropriate area (PhD in a health science discipline such as health services research, economics, public health, psychology, or other appropriate health or social science discipline or MD with research training), an excellent record of scholarly publication, demonstrated ability to both collaboratively work within large well-funded research programs and the potential to develop such a program. Knowledge and experience in social and behavioral science theory, research designs, and analysis methods are required. Participation in Departmental training activities and University service are also expected and valued.
