Job Description The Associate Director of Bands will assist the Director of Bands in a team environment with the administration, recruitment and continued development of a comprehensive University band program. Specfic duties include: Directing the 325-member University of South Carolina Marching Band; conducting the USC Symphonic Winds (the second concert band) during the fall and spring semesters; directing the men's basketball band and coordinate pep bands for women's basketball and volleyball; engaging in scholarly and/or creative research activities; participating in faculty service activities and committee work; and overseeing the organization and operation of the USC Summer Band Clinics. Additional teaching responsibilities as determined by qualifications, preference, and institutional needs.

Minimum Qualifications An earned doctorate (or ABD) is preferred, but candidates with master's degrees and significant teaching and performance experience may be considered. Candidates should have an established record of teaching and performance excellence in collegiate band programs. The successful candidate will offer significant experience and proven excellence as a band conductor as well as a commitment to music education. While secondary public school experience is highly desirable, college teaching experience is required.
