The Communications Specialist is responsible for assisting with a wide range of projects to support the implementation of the overall communication strategy. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Priorities, he/she performs a variety of duties to manage effective and efficient communications within and outside the College of Engineering. This includes conception, design, writing and editing of a wide variety of print materials for marketing purposes, as well as guiding other faculty and administrative staff in the college who are working on print materials via templates and consultation. The job requires extensive interaction with many internal/external stakeholders; principally this will be Northeastern faculty/staff, but also includes external groups (e.g. current students, alumni, vendors, etc.). The job is extremely fast-paced and requires flexibility and creativity in responding to requests with very short turnaround. The successful candidate will be extremely adept at planning and prioritization, tactful communication, and a strong writing and design background.
The position requires a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2-5 years of marketing- communications experience. Demonstrated effective written and verbal communications skills along with design and organizational capabilities. Strong project management skills are required, preferable in higher education. Excellent initiative and self-motivation with flexibility to work under deadlines. Ability to operate in a fast paced, multi-project and entrepreneurial environment both in a team and independently with at times, minimal supervision. Willingness to assist on an as-needed-basis in a variety of administrative and event planning. Strong administrative and computing skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suites.
