Assistant Professor of Christianity
The Department of Religious Studies at Bucknell University invites applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Christianity, to begin in August 2015. The Department of Religious Studies at Bucknell serves majors and minors in Religion, as well as a large number of students from other majors. We seek a teacher-scholar who can help us maintain the department's reputation for effective teaching and productive research, and whose teaching, research, and service will contribute to the department's commitment to diversity and academic excellence. Completion of the Ph.D. in Christianity/Religious Studies or advanced ABD is required. The ideal candidate will have an interest in interdisciplinary approaches to the academic study of Christianity.
Teaching responsibilities: Five undergraduate courses per year, including, but not limited to: Introduction to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (RELI 110); Christianity (RELI 212); Essentials of Christian Thought (RELI 215); History of Western Religious Thought (RELI 223); and Theories of Religion (RELI 330).
Applicants should submit a complete dossier, using Bucknell's Interfolio ByCommittee, including a cover letter, CV, a teaching philosophy, a sample of scholarship (a book chapter or journal article of no more than thirty pages), and arrange to have three letters of recommendation by October 1, 2014.
