Under the Vice President for Student Services, the successful candidate will provide leadership and management for the Division of Student Services which includes Housing, Student Activities and Transitions, Greek Life, Student Rights and Responsibilities, Veteran Student Services, Counseling, Multicultural Center, Native American Student Center, Wellness Center and the Muenster University Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, managing and executing the activities of the assigned areas of the Division of Student Services. This is an extraordinary time to become a part of an energized team focused on enhancing and expanding the student experience at a growing University. A Master's Degree is required, a Ph.D. is a plus. Preference will be given for degrees in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Student Services or related fields. A minimum of 10 years of broad professional, related managerial experience and a commitment to the liberal arts tradition is essential. 3-5 years' experience with multicultural diversity initiatives and programming as well as program evaluation and assessment is required. The Associate Dean would represent the division in the absence of the Vice President for Student Services/ Dean of Students. Other qualifications include excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and how to implement theory into practice, experience formulating and administering organizational policies, developing and implementing long-range goals and experience as a student advocate and problem solver. Must be student centered and be an experienced supervisor of professional staff, proficient in the areas of staff performance management and mentoring. The successful candidate will be an innovative, resourceful, high-energy professionals with a proven record of designing and implementing organizational change. The position requires a high amount of visibility on campus, at campus events, and with student-leaders. The successful candidate will be student-centered professionals who demonstrate: a high level of knowledge about the issues that confront a publicly supported University; an up-to-date understanding of and the ability to clearly communicate the importance and effectiveness of student development theory; and a record of success in enhancing the quality of student learning. Additional qualifications include: the ability to assess, understand and be a key advocate for a healthy campus climate; a commitment to contribute to the University's ongoing effort to promote an inclusive and diverse campus community; a demonstrated record of success in managing conflict; and the ability to develop and maintain productive community and campus partnerships. Recruitment and retention of students and diversity are important elements of the USD strategic plan. Close collaboration, particularly among Academic Affairs, Student Services, Facilities Management, Enrollment Services and external vendors will be required for the University to continue implementation of our strategic plan. The successful candidate will assist in the execution of goals and objectives for student services, consistent with the University's overall planning, and will help provide a strategic view of campus-wide linkages for potential program enhancement and development as well as cost savings and improved resource utilization.
