Job Summary/Essential Functions:

The Assistant Director position assists the Director in planning, maintaining and implementing the General Undergraduate Academic Advising Program. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining a student ambassador program in collaboration with the Director. The Assistant Director will deliver appropriate developmental advising to undecided, at-risk, or special populations of EWU undergraduate students; and will develop and offer, in collaboration with the Director and GUAA staff, appropriate training to student employees, staff and faculty advisors as needed.

Conditions of Employment:

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt or, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. Successful applicant will be required to pass a background check for continued employment.

Minimum Qualifications:

o Master's in any field;

o Three years supervisory experience

o At least two years experience as a program supervisor, manager, or director, or other equivalent experience

o At least two years experience in higher education in a role involving student support services

o Strong computer and information systems skills

o Excellent interpersonal skills

o Experience working with multi-cultural populations

o Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity.
