GENERAL DUTIES

The Assistant Administrator manages one or more key administrative functions.  He/she develops, implements, and assesses programs and services to produce high-quality results and meet strategic goals.  He/she also coordinates activities among different units, and with areas outside the College, and may oversee staff, budget, operations, and facilities.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning will have overall administrative responsibility for matters related to external accreditation (both institutional and program), academic program review and assessment of student learning, strategic planning, and institutional effectiveness.  The Executive Director will be a key collaborator in the preparation of all external accreditation documents and the college's PMP report to CUNY. 

York College has robust Strategic Planning and Outcome Assessment Committees and is looking forward to our next decennial Middle States review (2017-2018) and our external accreditations in Clinical Learning Science, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physician's Assistant, Social Work and Teacher Education.  The Executive Director will be instrumental as we seek external accreditation in other areas, i.e., Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, Health Ed, and science. 

Specifically, the Executive Director will (1) develop and institutionalize systems to assess the overall effectiveness of the College in meeting its stated mission, and provide regular and frequent reports on the results of these assessments to the College President as well as to the broader college community; (2) maintain an up-to-date and thorough acknowledgement of accreditation requirements (at institutional and program levels) and communicate changes and other important information to appropriate campus personnel; (3) ensure that the College conducts academic program reviews in accordance with College and University policies, and that said reviews are thorough and rigorous; (4) ensure appropriate institutional and unit level follow-up to recommendations and/or cited weaknesses observed as a result of all accreditation and review activities; (5) work with academic department chairs to design and implement effective student learning outcomes assessment processes, and monitor curricular/instructional changes and improvements resulting from these assessments; (6) provide leadership to the preparation and dissemination of data/reports that guide the continuous improvement of academic programs at the College; and (7) administer and coordinate the preparation of accreditation self-studies, and edit or provide editorial review to ensure the accuracy and acceptable format of reports that are prepared for external audiences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan.  All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.  Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

- An earned doctoral degree in relevant academic field required
- Eight years of higher education experience in assessment (student learning and institutional effectiveness) and regional and special accreditation
- Demonstrated ability (minimum of two years experience) in leading strategic planning activities/accreditation
- Strong quantitative and qualitative skills and experience in research methods and design and statistical analyses including predictive modeling and hierarchical/longitudinal analysis
- Effective oral, written, organizational, and graphic presentation skills and the ability to write and communicate data-rich reports that are easily understood by various stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with assessing the effectiveness of College services at the program, unit, and institutional levels and making recommendations for institutional improvements
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully and collaboratively with faculty and personnel at all administrative levels
- Ability to engage in evidence-based planning and decision-making and to educate and engage the community in these activities
- Participation in professional research, assessment, and institutional effectiveness organizations at the regional, state, and national level, keeping current in all aspects of the profession
- Forward thinking, innovative, and proactive in identifying problems and implementing evidence-based improvements
