Position Summary: The Performing Arts Services group is looking for a casual House Manager. Reporting to the Audience Services Supervisor, the House Manager is an integral part of the front of house staff for concerts and events at Princeton University. Duties and responsibilities: - Oversee all public areas of the building before, during, and after events - Manage Event Assistants and volunteer usher staff during events - Communicate with production crew to open the house, start the show, and close the hall after the show - Welcome and assist patrons from the University and the surrounding community into the venue - Work with Production to ensure that all of the client's needs are met Additional information: - The House Manager typically arrives three hours prior to the beginning of an event, and meets with either the Event Manager or the Production Manager. S/he is in charge of seeing that the building, particularly the lobby and the inside of the auditorium, are prepared for the event. The House Manager leads a meeting with all Event Assistants and ushers to convey information about the event and to assign duties. - The House Manager coordinates with Production to open the house to patrons, informs Production when the house is closing prior to the start of the show, and continues to oversee the lobby during and after the show. - The House Manager works with the ticketing staff to troubleshoot seating issues, and provides support to patrons with accessible needs in order to best accommodate them. - At the end of the event, the House Manager is responsible for seeing that the building is closed and locked, and that all front of house materials have been restored to their proper locations. - The House Manager is responsible for contacting Public Safety in the event of an incident taking place in the hall during an event. - The House Manager will mainly work in Richardson Auditorium at Alexander Hall, but will also be called upon to work events in other locations, including the Woodrow Wilson School, the University Chapel, and Procter Hall. Most events take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. There are occasional weekday events. There will be several shifts available per month. - This job offers an opportunity to assist in the production of major university events. Recent guest lecturers include Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Woody Allen, Meryl Streep, and Arianna Huffington. Richardson Auditorium is also home to multiple classical concert music series, including Princeton University Concerts, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Many of Princeton University's music ensembles also perform at Richardson, including the Princeton University Orchestra, Princeton University Concert Jazz Ensemble, Glee Club, and student-run groups including HighSteppers and the Princeton Pianists Ensemble.

Essential Qualifications: - Extensive customer service experience, as well as a pleasant and friendly disposition - Ability to think quickly and troubleshoot in a calm manner
