Position Summary: The Performing Arts Services group is looking for a casual Event Assistant. Reporting to the Audience Services Supervisor, the Event Assistant is an integral part of the front of house staff for concerts and events at Princeton University. Duties and responsibilities: - Welcome and assist patrons from the University and the surrounding community into the venue - Assist the volunteer usher staff by collecting tickets and helping patrons find their seats - Work as an assistant stage manager by leading performers to and from the stage during rehearsals and performances - Assist the Front of House Manager at the top of the show by communicating with the production crew Additional information: - Event Assistants mainly work in Richardson Auditorium at Alexander Hall, but will also be called upon to work events in other locations, including the Woodrow Wilson School, the University Chapel, and Procter Hall. - Event Assistants dress in black skirts/pants and white shirts/blouses, with black shoes. We will provide an orange tie or scarf. - We train everyone; no theater experience is necessary. - A pleasant and friendly disposition and an understanding of quality customer service are required. - Event Assistants begin work one hour before the event's start time. There are multiple shifts available for each event, which range from 90 minutes to four hours. Most events take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. There are occasional weekday events. - Event Assistants typically work 2-8 shows per month depending on their schedules. - This job offers an opportunity to assist in the production of major university events. Recent guest lecturers include Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Woody Allen, Meryl Streep, and Arianna Huffington. Richardson Auditorium is also home to multiple classical concert music series, including Princeton University Concerts, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Many of Princeton University's music ensembles also perform at Richardson, including the Princeton University Orchestra, Princeton University Concert Jazz Ensemble, Glee Club, and student-run groups including HighSteppers and the Princeton Pianists Ensemble.
