Position Summary: The MSU College of Natural Science is seeking a full-time Information Technologist/front-end Web designer who will work in partnership with the college's communications director and digital media and training manager to enhance and develop core college Web sites and social media channels/packaging; the successful candidate will play an important role in the development of Web design and layout, user interface and user experience, and will assist with content packaging and dissemination strategies for both Web and social media platforms; major responsibilities to include: tests Web functionality; will recommend design technologies and suggest and implement process improvements for the delivery of Web content; the team member will work closely with internal and external, technical and non-technical partners to deliver memorable experiences, and custom content that is easy to navigate and aligns with the overall mission of the college.

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field; three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in front-end web development and design; experience in HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3, JavaScript and JQuery; experience in Microsoft Office suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver or Eclipse; experience with social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube; experience of server Web development languages (e.g. ColdFusion, PHP, ASP, .NET, Java, etc.) and web development tools, standards and technologies (REST Serviced, AJAX, JSON, XML, etc.); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Typing Requirements (wpm):

Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL server from a programming, security, administration and maintenance standpoint; demonstrated and deep understanding of Web 2.0 concepts and associated technologies; knowledge of CMS/Blog solutions (I.e. Mura, WordPress, Joomla, Drupal); knowledgeable of valid Web metrics, Web analytics, Web ROI, and how they should be used to improve content Web visibility; knowledge of online marketing and experience in measuring engagement activities; experience turning UI designs into eye catching, feature-rich, dynamic user interfaces using the latest techniques in Web application development; knowledge of terminology and concepts related to the internet; ability to work in a team environment with technical and non-technical partners; proven ability to work collaboratively, exercise good judgment and utilize good verbal and written communications; impeccable project/time management skills; ability to think outside the box, diagnose complex problems, and stay focused on the assigned task.
