Position Summary: This position helps to design, document, administer, and operate complex Linux- and Windows-based environments for the MSU Libraries; configures system level software for monitoring and logging; troubleshoots and resolves customer issues.

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Typing Requirements (wpm):

Desired Qualifications: Experience administering large scale Red Hat and Debian enterprise Linux systems; knowledge of security policies, firewalls, VLANs, and network configuration; knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, and Python; familiarity with common networking protocols, firewall configuration and troubleshooting, and excellent deductive skills; familiarity with storage protocols such as CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, FC, etc. to connect to shared storage; familiarity with administration of virtualization software, MySQL or MariaDB servers, and Active Directory 2008/2012; strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently and with a team to accomplish complex tasks.
