Position Information:
Work in partnership with a team of financial analysts, assisting with the financial operations of seven units, including two large multi-disciplinary research and teaching departments, multiple-off-site organized research units and four interdepartmental Graduate Programs to support more than 300 active fund sources. Review and reconcile monthly general ledgers & payroll expenditure (DOPE) reports. Perform web recharges, redistribute departmental expenses in UCRFS as appropriate. Process procard expense transfers, deposits, gift acceptance forms and mileage reports. Monitor payroll distribution ending dates. Serve as back-up for Microcomputer Support Systems representative and assist with minor computer troubleshooting. Provide ad hoc financial reports and analyses to Financial Operations Mgr and FAO as needed. Assist with record and data management for the BNN Administrative unit.

Minimum Requirements:
1) Graduation from college with a major in accounting, business administration or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2) Advanced skills in using Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and other spreadsheet and database software with extensive knowledge of general accounting principles, fund accounting, budget development, payroll processing and general ledgers.

3) Demonstrated ability to access and retrieve data from financial information systems using PC-based tools; organize and process data for analyses. Summarize data into a clear, comprehensive format to diverse clientele.

4) Demonstrated experience in using on-line accounting and payroll/personnel systems and demonstrated experience with analysis of multiple fund sources.

5) Strong organizational skills with ability to coordinate prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently under time and workload pressures with multiple interruptions.

6) Demonstrated ability to prepare financial reports with high level of accuracy and acute attention to detail.

7) Demonstrated ability to evaluate and assess complex data. Demonstrated experience identifying and analyzing account variances and researching discrepancies. Skill in generating a number of different approaches to problem solving.

8) Demonstrated understanding of the business ethics connected to the accountability and confidentiality involved in processing documents and data.

9) Demonstrated ability to interpret and effectively articulate policies and procedures, both orally and in writing.

10) Ability to interact professionally with diverse groups at UCR.

Preferred Qualifications:
1) Demonstrated knowledge of University of California financial policies and procedures.

2) Demonstrated familiarity with UCR financial systems and applications.

3) Knowledge of federal, state and UC policies and procedures.

4) Knowledge of Sales and Service operations and policies and procedures.

5) Work experience in higher education.
