P/T Fitness Center Personal Trainer

Customer Service:

  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service, including a positive, engaging personality and great listening skills
  • Serve as front desk receptionist in the absence of a work-study employee or part-time receptionist
  • Check in members and monitor traffic entering and leaving the fitness center
  • Interact with members in the fitness center and demonstrate proper use of equipment
  • Answer member questions promptly and accurately

 

Personal Training and Group Classes:

  • Conduct fitness assessments as scheduled by appointment, including body composition, cardiovascular, strength/endurance, and flexibility testing
  • Create personalized training plans for members
  • Ensure safe use of equipment and offer assistance to members as needed
  • Demonstrate safety and proficiency is spotting a variety of exercises
  • Design and conduct group fitness classes for the BHCC community

 

Facility Monitoring and Supervision:

  • Enforce rules and regulations of the Health and Wellness Center
  • Assist with training and supervision of work-study students
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment
  • Periodically check equipment for proper function and notify Fitness Manager of any repairs needed

 

Other Duties:

  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Fitness Manager or Athletic Director
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
  • National Personal Training Certification (ACSM, NSCA, ACE, NASM, AAPT preferred)
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, exercise science, fitness, or closely related field
  • 1 – 3 years of personal training or group exercise experience
  • 1 – 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience working in public higher education
  • Experience working in an urban setting
  • Scheduled hours:Thursday 10:00a.m.-7:00p.m. & Friday 10:00a.m.-4:00p.m.Salary: $25.95/hr. @ 15hrs/wk.
