Director, Marketing & Communications (SMC)
The Director of Marketing and Communication in the School of Media and Communication will manage the development and distribution of print and electronic materials including but not limited to brochures, newsletters, posters, postcards, reports, websites, social media and email campaigns; generates and disseminates press releases and online content to engage the media community as well as those with a more general interest, evaluates and develops new electronic media opportunities; tracks, measures and assesses effectiveness, reach and engagement for all communications campaigns; and oversees the day-to-day activities of the communications function including budgeting, planning and staff development. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least six years marketing and or communication experience. Demonstrated experience with budgets, project management, leadership and management. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills and Abilities: *Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a strategic communications plan along with web communications and social media plans that supports and reinforces a consistent school-wide message. *Knowledge of and experience with all forms of traditional media and social media. *Working knowledge of all aspects of print forms including but not limited to program ads, brochures, newspaper, and magazine advertising and mail pieces. *Strong interpersonal and customer skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff. *Effective relationship building and organizational skills.
