Position Information:
UC Riverside AEE Administrative Department seeks a financial analyst to provide complex financial leadership and support to faculty, staff, and students of the Earth Sciences Department, Environmental Sciences Department, the Water Science & Policy Center (WSPC), and the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC). Our departments and centers reside within the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences and offer both undergraduate and graduate programs in Earth Sciences and Environmental Sciences. AEE provides business services to 30 faculty, 16 active Emeriti faculty, and over 100 graduate students, post docs and research staff working within and across the disciplines related to Earth's Dynamic nature and history, geological processes operating at a wide range of spatial and temporal scales, soil sciences, aquatic sciences, microbial ecology, atmospheric sciences and environmental economics and policy. You will perform duties to include pre- and post-award administration of contracts and grants, sales and service funds invoicing and follow-up, records and data management, processing transactions using various online applications, and fiscal closing. The incumbent will also serve as back-up to the Accounting Assistants and provide other departmental support as needed and miscellaneous duties to include but not limited to evaluating procurement and reimbursement processes, systems, and applications to improve processing efficiency and eliminate redundancy, establish and maintain a professional and cooperative working environment, maintaining good communication with customers, vendors, and your supervisor, with other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements:
1.Graduation from college with a major in business administration or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2.Demonstrated ability to use strong organizational skills to evaluate multiple funds, under multiple deadlines, using investigative research and analytical tools, and the ability to assess those findings to make recommendations to solve minor problems.
3.Self-Management and Organizational skills: Skill in following through on assignments; skill in setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities; skill in performing effectively under a fluctuating workload; skill in accurate record keeping with strict attention to detail.
4.Advanced skills in using up to date versions of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Outlook, and Word; demonstrated experience in accessing and retrieving data from on-line accounting and purchasing systems; demonstrated experience in internet research and quotes; advanced knowledge of general accounting principles, fund accounting, and purchasing terms.
5.Demonstrated understanding of the business ethics connected to the accountability and confidentiality involved in processing documents and data.
6.Demonstrated ability to interpret and effectively articulate policies and procedures, both orally and in writing.
7.Ability to interact professionally, and with a positive demeanor, with diverse groups at UCR.
Preferred Qualifications:
1.Demonstrated knowledge of UCRFS, UCRFS TOTALS, SUPERDOPE, PPS, eCAF, PAMIS, PIWRS, eBuy, ePay, iTravel, and FMS.
2.Demonstrated knowledge of the University of California's purchasing and financial policies and procedures.
3.Familiarity with searching Federal OMB circulars A-021, A-110, and A-133; knowledge of SAS 112 regulations.
4.Demonstrated experience in preparation and submission of contract and grant proposals.
5.Experience working in an institution of higher education.
