As OIT's Information Architect and ZotPortal Content Project Coordinator, the candidate is responsible for the structural design and organization of the content in Zotportal and integrated departmental web sites, with the goal being findability and usability of information. The candidate will analyze and unify information across different UCI web sites and areas of business and introduce new integrated content as necessary to create a functionally driven information architecture rather than one that is departmentally driven. The candidate guides the development of ontologies, labeling, search and navigation within websites and the campus portal and serves as the campus project manager and lead on assuring quality Web Portal content. The candidate provides tools and training and works with providers to conceptualize their content into logical pieces of similar granularity. The candidate will help content providers choose the appropriate CMS tool (Hannon Hill or Wordpress) and templates for the presentation of their business information and will work towards consistency and usability. The candidate will assure that style and other standards are adhered to. Candidate will create new templates as business needs dictate. Provide support and training to users. The candidate also collaborates carefully with UCI's Strategic Communication Office, OIT's Web Content Group, the Web Developer Group, and web masters and web developers inside and outside of OIT. Serving as a consultant as needed by departments across UCI, this position works carefully to ensure that campus standards as set up by UCI's Strategic Communication Office are implemented and expanded and integrated within the Portal environment.
Salary: Range $65,154.00 - $103,514
Work Schedule: 8-5, M-F

Job Essential Function 1
Percent of Time: 50%
Web Information Architect and ZotPortal Content Project Coordinator. Serve as campus project lead on creating and maintaining logical organization, quality development, and findability of web content in ZotPortal and departmental web sites, per information architecture best practices. Re-engineer and update web sites as necessary to maintain consistency, effective presentation and delivery of Web content. Organize focus and review group meetings to enhance portal user interface and usability. Organize portal user satisfaction surveys. Work with providers to determine and test content usability. Apply techniques such as card sorting to develop logical categories of information and ontologies. Re-design and re-organize web sites to modernize appearance, to create a uniform look and feel, to optimize information delivery effectiveness, conform to UCIand portal standards, and to provide gateways to relevant external web sites. Conduct training workshop on best practices in creating web content and adding content to Zotportal. Educate and mentor campus staff. Produce news items for various campus news agents. Coordinate portal announcements and highlights. Produce publicity and promotional materials. Work with the UCPath, Kuali and other teams on ZotPortal presence and content delivery.

Campus Hannon Hill/Cascade CMS implementation co-coordinator. Provide ongoing support and problem resolution to the users of the CMS when it comes to content setup, category and permission maintenance. Coordinate activities of units in adopting CascadeServer CMS and migrating their web sites. Perform configuration and programming of CascadeServer as necessary. Assist with user and security administration and creation of style sheets and widgets as necessary. Participate in uPortal or Cascade Server upgrade plans and coordinate QA, testing and migration of content as needed by upgrades. Evaluate new CMS tools or components as necessary.
Job Essential Function 3
Percent of Time: 15%
Maintain the portal search results quality and the search thesaurus. Analyze search logs and optimize web content key words to match search criteria. Work with the search engine to maintain a thesaurus of terms and review query terms weekly for search improvement. Maintain Search Engine index. Coordinate and test search engine upgrades.
Serve as project manager by maintaining portal content growth plans. Plans will integrate the content development efforts of different business areas into various progress reports for different audiences. This person will identify areas where progress falls behind schedule, seek to identify the causes, and make recommendations to put the projects back on track. Work with campus stakeholders to maintain a set of milestones for content production and/or modification. Produce management status reports and manage team meetings.
Ensure content accessibility and compliance with Section 508. Review and edit content. Participate in the OIT web presence support activities.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Informatics or related computing field.
Familiarity with Human-Computer Interaction and usability concepts.
Experience writing for the web.
Experience with Web Information Architecture development principles and methodologies.
Familiarity with the field of information architecture (the art and science of organizing information to help people effectively fulfill their information needs).
Familiarity with content and layout design for different audiences and A/B Testing.
Experience with project planning, scheduling, task management, delegation, change management, issue tracking, project monitoring, status reporting, and project management best practices.
Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skill.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent technical writing skills.
Skill to effectively communicate with a wide range of people both orally and in writing.

Experience with Hannon Hill Cascade Server CMS or other CMS.
Knowledge of the University business processes and functions.
Knowledge of Internet security issues.
Quality Assurance experience.

Experience with multi-user database applications in a Web/J2EE/XML environment.
