Fire/Security Alarm Technician

Position Summary:
Conduct inspection, testing and maintenance of fire detection and suppression systems and electronic security systems. Inspect university facilities to ensure compliance with applicable fire and life safety codes. Educate and train students, faculty and staff in fire safety measures. Familiarity with traditional and microprocessor- based fire and security alarm systems and minimum 2 years experience in fire safety or security in commercial/ institutional setting (as an alarm service technician) or in prevention unit of municipal fire department. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred; alarm technician licenses in accordance with Massachusetts code requirements, strongly desired.

Must have thorough knowledge of fire inspection and prevention techniques, and a strong ability to express ideas and information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Must have the ability to evaluate emergency situations and develop effective courses of action. A thorough knowledge of traditional and microprocessor-based fire alarm and suppression systems and electronic security systems and the regulations relating to their installation, testing and maintenance is required.
