SCOPE OF WORK:
Assists faculty of ECE program in developing and coordinating ECE Freshmen Student Learning Community. Mentors ECE students to assure their understanding of program and course expectations and their development of a plan for successfully meeting them. This position shall report to the Early Childhood Education Department Chairperson.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•Serve as advisor for Student Education Club, focusing on career pathways in ECE and how they relate to other academic and career options, and coordinating civic engagement and college-based outreach activities sponsored by the club.
•Establish initial meeting times and assist ECE faculty and students with organizational and operational details for the Student Education Club.
•Maintain Student Education Club website to assure currency of information related to departmental expectations and policies, career opportunities, and civic engagement activities.
•Assure that students in ECE courses requiring capstone projects understand and maintain effort to completion of those projects.
•Establish study groups among ECE students to assure understanding of specific course expectations.
•Coordinate development of procedure/information guidelines for Freshmen Student Learning Community.
•Serves as liaison between MCC and ECE program and local public schools offering ECE courses and programs.
•Assist ECE faculty in coordination of activities, assessments, and expected outcomes for courses in the Learning Community.
•Coordinate establishment of visitation days with Running Start students in ECE courses and with local Career and Technical High School Education programs.
•Assist ECE faculty in preparation and dissemination of documents related to career pathways in Early Childhood Education.
•Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
•Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with a major in education or early childhood education. Each additional year of approved formal education may
be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience:
Two (2) years of professional or paraprofessional experience in a field or occupation relevant to education or early childhood education, with responsibility
for planning, monitoring programs, or performing research.
Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in an academic institution preferred.

Considerable knowledge of the organization and
operations of the department or college in which position is assigned. Considerable knowledge of the principles of administrative work. General knowledge of current literature in specialized field of work. Ability to write technical information. Ability to communicate effectively in
oral and written form. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with college officials, employees and the general public. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college’s appointing authority.
