Description Under the general supervision of the Director of Financial Aid, the Compliance Specialist's primary duty is to collect, review and analyze data; organize and present reports; and monitor the status of meeting compliance requirements with the various rules and regulations required by the Department of Education for Federal Financial Aid funds. Specific areas of interest will be academic participation; enrollment verification in coordination with the National Clearinghouse, and the NSLDS; and the New Jersey Tuition Assistance Grant. The Compliance Specialist will perform these actions to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of enrollment verification, course engagement, processing State grant payments, and creating and sending communications to students in these various areas. Examples of Work -Stay current with rules and regulations regarding financial aid compliance - Process and submit reports related to compliance monitoring and reporting -Assist with other offices regarding compliance issues (ex. Bursar, Registrar, Instructional Design) - Assist in writing reports to document audit work and support the basis for audit findings and recommendations. - Prepares correspondence in the course of official duties. - Maintains essential records and files. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -Ability to effectively speak, answers questions, or explains routine or complex information regarding compliance issues. -Excellent written and oral communications skills. -Knowledge of Excel spreadsheets -Ability to work with other offices to ensure compliance. -Ability to prepare and process reports. -Knowledge of financial aid programs and implementation procedures as well as federal and state regulations. -Effectively read, write, and speak the English language. -Ability to acquire basic knowledge of college policies and procedures. -Ability to understand, analyze, and interpret and apply established law, regulations, procedures, precedents, and guidelines. -Ability to establish cooperative working relationships and coordinate with other offices or organizations that impact on assigned responsibilities. - Ability to prepare correspondence. - Ability to maintain essential records and files. Requirements Education: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree or equivalency as determined by the appointing authority. Experience: Two years professional experience as a faculty member in an institution of higher education or administration in education, higher education or other field that is directly related to the functions of the position to be filled or equivalency as determined by the appointing authority.
