Working Title: Nursing Faculty

Posting Information: The School of Nursing at Western Carolina University (WCU) invites applications for a nursing faculty positions in the pre-licensure programs. This fixed-term position requires an MSN degree (doctorate preferred) and will be based primarily at the Cullowhee main campus. Candidates interested in an academic career with a focus on teaching and community engagement are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will have an enthusiasm for nursing and the flexibility to teach in several areas of the curriculum. Responsibilities include service on committees and participation in official activities of the School, College and University. The School of Nursing is located in two brand new state-of-the-art buildings in Cullowhee and Asheville, NC. The main campus supports the traditional BSN program while the Asheville location houses the Accelerated BSN and graduate nursing programs. The College of Health and Human Sciences' faculty are committed to creating and implementing a program of inter-professional experiences for students enrolled in the health professions, and opportunities for inter-professional research and collaboration is extensive. In addition, the western North Carolina rural, aging and medically underserved location provides numerous and rich opportunities for research and grant acquisition. The School of Nursing is accredited through Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and boasts a 100 percent NCLEX pass rate. In addition the School provides a collegial atmosphere and has garnered approximately $5 million in grants in the past five years. WCU embraces its role as a regionally engaged university and is designated by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a community engaged university. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate a commitment to public engagement through their teaching, service, and scholarship.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: This fixed-term position requires an MSN degree (doctorate preferred). Degree must be from an appropriately accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications: Requirements: Doctoral Degree in nursing or a related field; eligibility for RN licensure in NC; two years teaching experience at the BSN level or higher and two years prior experience in direct patient care as an RN.
