Senior Research Specialist
Research Specialist-Peabody Research Institute
The Senior Research Specialist will work on one or more of the externally funded social or educational research projects at the Peabody Research Institute (PRI) and perform advanced research and data analysis tasks. We are looking for a versatile individual who is able to participate in and independently lead a range of research-related activities on different projects and be capable of moving from one project to another as need arises.
Key Functions and Expected Performances:
Clean and error-check data files; conduct statistical analysis on field-collected data, observations, or meta-analysis.
Contribute to the design of new research projects; help develop research proposals for funding agencies.
Prepare written reports of research findings and present research findings.
May also be asked to lead data collection and data management efforts for a research project including administering tests to children, conducting systematic classroom observations, conducting telephone interviews, and coding and compiling data for meta-analysis.
Expected to be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment to apply established social science research methods as well as to devise new or modify existing methods and procedures to meet new conditions.
Estimated Allocation of Time:
Data collection, supervision of data collection, data management: 50%
Conducting statistical analysis and reporting the results: 30%
Assisting with research design and proposal development: 10%
Assisting with research reports and manuscripts for publication: 10%
Preferred Education, Skills, and Experiences:
Bachelor's and 7 years of experience or the equivalent required.
Master's degree in a social science or related field highly preferred.
Expertise with statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS, Stata) and prior relevant research experience highly preferred.
