Position Summary: This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Analyst Programmer,competency level 3, position for Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Analyst Programmer position exists within Professional and Continuing Education (PACE), which is under the Division of Outreach and Engagement. The Professional and Continuing Education unit supports the development and administration of lifelong learning, professional, and noncredit programs and courses that are the responsibility of the division.

This position provides support for the development and maintenance of web applications using the Drupal and Moodle content management systems. This position works with members of the PACE team to design and develop instructional technology and other web-based educational resources.

This position assists in the design and development of support and production infrastructure for course development and delivery. The holder of this position will function as part of a team developing e-learning and web-related projects using the agile software development framework.

Position Duties: 65% - Web Application Development and Maintenance:

Develops, maintains and troubleshoots server-side systems, components and features for web-based e-learning courses and student management.

Lead developer on integration script and program tracking system projects.

Serves as programming lead on learning management system (LMS) implementation. Leads implementation and maintenance of customer relationship management (CRM) software.

Administers and maintains MySQL databases containing student data.

Monitors and maintains the health of PACE's web applications, applying updates as needed.

Reviews development work to ensure adherence to formatting, accessibility, documentation and quality standards.

Manages and communicates deadlines and expectations related to ticket management.

Works as part of a team that develops multimedia applications and interactive components for web or live

Periodically assesses the effectiveness of the Professional and Continuing Education unit's production process and products and recommends/implements revisions based on current technology standards and user needs.

20% - Project Management:

Manages issue tracking system (JIRA)

Documents new and improved features as they are developed.

Attends meetings with clients and instructional designers to discuss technical needs and feature requests for PACE projects.

Uses online project management tools to log task progress and estimate development time.

5% System Administration:

Serves as administrator for maintenance, configuration, and administration of systems. Leads and is the main point of contact for Ideal-Logic, JIRA, and CRM systems such as SalesForce.

5% Vendor Research and Management:

Researches and coordinates decisions related to vendor interface and implementation (i.e. badging providers). Provides lead work and assigns work to vendors and contractors. Serves as a liaison to software vendors and technology service providers for the programming team.

5% - Service and Professional Development:

Serves as a member of unit, Division, or campus-wide teams and university committees as assigned.

Service may include other duties as assigned, such as coverage in absence of others and serving as a PACE unit representative on university committees. Participates in and provides technical cross-training.

Minimum/Required Qualifications: This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in systems analysis and related programming support functions generally obtained by a bachelor's degree in computer science, or an equivalent amount of training and applied experience.

Proficiency in web application development using PHP and MySQL.

Sufficient understanding of client-side web programming languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript to collaborate effectively with front-end web developers.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OAR 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications: Experience developing Drupal 6 and 7 applications.

A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
