This position is an excellent opportunity to be a leader in nursing education. Lake Washington Institute of Technology's Nursing Programs comprise the third largest program in the college. The Nursing Programs include a Certified Nursing Assistant Program and a Registered Nursing program, graduating students each quarter. The Nursing Programs exhibit a history of success with high completion rates, NCLEX scores above the state requirement and national mean, excellent job placement and high demand selective admissions. Currently, the Nursing Programs function within the mission and vision of the college supporting an education curriculum from nursing assistant to articulation with Baccalaureate in Nursing Programs. The programs offer state of the art simulation and nursing laboratories, as well as simulation testing capabilities The college is in position to develop external programs to support local, regional, and state educational needs. This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of the Nursing Programs by working with other college faculty, staff and members of the community in developing interdisciplinary studies and future exploration into development of a Baccalaureate in Nursing degree. The Director of Nursing Programs provides vision, leadership, planning and management for the development and support of the college's nursing programs. This is an exempt, contracted, administrative position that reports to the division dean.


• A Master's degree in nursing

• Registered Nurse License in Washington State (unencumbered with no past actions) at the time of hire

• Two years nursing education experience that includes teaching, educational theory and methodology, instructional design and methodology, student evaluation and outcomes assessment preferred

• Five years recent nursing work experience with a total of seven or more years of nursing experience

• Curriculum development experience preferred; experience in administration, academic governance, fiscal management, human resources management preferred

• Demonstrated leadership skills

• Team building experience

• Service on behalf of nursing education, the community, and/or the profession

• Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students, staff and community from diverse backgrounds, including those whose native language is not English, and a commitment to a culturally diverse work environment

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to function as an effective team member

• Information Technology literate
