The University of Findlay (www.findlay.edu) is seeking a full-time director of intercultural student services, responsible for providing dynamic and collaborative leadership for the administration of the office. Develop, manage, and implement programs and services for current and prospective students from underrepresented populations and offer diversity education programs that foster inclusive learning environments for all students. The Director will partner with academic and administrative departments to promote student success through general advocacy and a variety of academic support, diversity education, leadership, and mentoring projects that provide opportunities for intentional student interaction and engagement on issues of diversity, inclusion, social justice and international perspectives. This position requires higher education experience, with a Masters’ Degree in a field that compliments the mission of the University and the Office of Intercultural Student Services. The successful candidate must have at least 3-5 years of experience in Student Affairs and be highly motivated, an energetic advocate, catalyst and leader in the development of a diverse and inclusive community. The individual must possess a working knowledge of best practices related to diversity, multiculturalism, intercultural communication and social justice and have professional experience with program development and assessment. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success reaching out across communities, including race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, abilities, class, and other identities. The position requires an ability to interact and collaborate across campus constituencies, including students, staff, faculty, and alumni. Knowledge of and experience with budget management, counseling, supervision, programming techniques are essential. Strong oral/written communication skills and familiarity with MS applications are required. The individual must have an understanding of and a commitment to the student development philosophy, and the ability to organize an Intercultural Student Services program reflective of this point of view. They must also have demonstrated ability to work in a culture not their own and to demonstrate the skills necessary for cultural adaptation in an unfamiliar setting. Due to the nature of the job, this position will occasionally require working during evenings and on weekends and some travel, both domestically and internationally. This position requires a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
