LeTourneau University, Longview, Texas, an interdenominational, evangelical Christ-centered institution of higher learning, seeks a senior-level administrator with substantial experience to serve as Dean of Students. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Dean of Students reports to the Provost and Executive Vice President and coordinates the many activities which are important to the overall growth and well-being of the student body. This includes programs designed to aid in the intellectual, spiritual, emotional, physical and social development of the student. The Dean of Students is responsible for the following areas: • Residence Life • Career Development • Health Services • Student Government • Student Activities • International Student Support • Commuter Support • Orientation • Intercollegiate Athletics • Intramurals Additionally, the area of discipline and student judicial review is the sole responsibility of the Dean of Students and Office of Student Life. This includes the enforcement of institutional policies. The Dean of Students coordinates all student affairs programs and personnel and is responsible for budget development and control of the budgets assigned to the area. The Dean of Students, in addition to supervising the various departments within the area, has primary responsibility for determining student concerns and needs, and for presenting a plan of action to accommodate those concerns within the basic guidelines of the institution. QUALIFICATIONS: LeTourneau University seeks a person with an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith who is committed to Christian higher education that integrates Christian faith with learning. • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, Higher Education, or a related field, with a doctorate highly preferred; • Five years of progressively responsible experience in a successful leadership role in the field; • Familiarity and commitment to the development of the “whole” student, including spiritual development; • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty, peers, and the community; • Evidence of effective managerial ability with programs, budgets, and staff.
