About The Unit:

Unit Job Summary: Responsible for design and production functions related to reprints, and file preparation on new books. Update digital book files as required for new impressions, which will include the redesign of some covers and interior pages; determine best method for updating cover reprints based on digital file and cover film resources; check proofs; research digital file availability of projects and confirm file worthiness; maintain digital book file versions in consultation with supervisor; work with in-house staff on books assigned. Assist with the evaluation and processing of edited manuscript files in Word, in preparation for typesetting (this includes assessment of file structure; running macros on files to ensure proper format; processing of files through digital hub; ensuring file-naming conventions are compliant). Assist with administrative tasks related to monthly reprint lists.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Unit Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant experience required. One year of print design experience preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills required. Experience with Macintosh platform required; experience with PC platform preferred. Ability to coordinate the work of others required. Experience with Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel, and Access) strongly preferred. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe InDesign, Adobe PhotoShop, and Adobe Acrobat) strongly preferred. Experience with FileMaker Pro preferred.
