Associate Professor/Chair of Human Services
Reporting to the Dean of the Audrey Cohen School for Human Services and Education, the Chair of Human Services will oversee the supervision and administration of academic activities; will execute policies concerning teaching and scholarship, fiscal affairs and other administrative business. He/she will recruit, select, evaluate and mentor adjunct faculty and encourage faculty leadership to enhance faculty morale and professional development. As a faculty member, the Chair will provide long-term direction and vision for the program, solicit ideas to improve the concept of Purpose Centered Education, plan and evaluate curriculum development, plan course offerings, and conduct meetings. He/she will prepare budgets, maintain records, assign duties to faculty, and will have teaching responsibilities. The candidate’s academic and professional credentials and experience may qualify for, and be commensurate with a senior level rank. Minimum qualifications include a PhD or other doctorate degree preferably in the Human Services discipline; eight years of experience in higher education, to include teaching, curriculum development and implementation, and faculty supervision; knowledge of learning theories for adult learners and principles of supplemental instruction; demonstrated knowledge of learning outcomes assessment practices in higher education; knowledge of distance learning educational models, adult learning styles, and technology assisted instruction; and ability to work successfully with in diverse cultural setting is required.
