Description


Provide leadership and management of 3 Financial Analyst preparing five-year financial plan models; coordinate activities associated with capital budgets; developing/preparing and maintaining executive cash flow reports; preparing materials for use by executive management and/or board of trust; development/overseeing/implementing a variety of specifically assigned projects applying project management methodology.  Define and implement long term strategies to develop and maintain processes and procedures within an organized unit to promote innovation in accordance with University goals and objectives.

Analyze and review financial data and prepare financial statements and reports for both internal and external purposes consistent with a comprehensive understanding of Institutional mission and vision, the role and goals of the business unit and consistent with an understanding of academic and healthcare accounting in accordance with GAAP, appropriate regulations, and University policies and procedures.


Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience required.  Prefers candidates who possess a MBA and 8-10 years of relevant experience.

Key Functions and Expected Performances:

  1. Train and mentor team as they carry out their responsibilities on a daily basis; Plan/coordinate activities and changing priorities of the various functions and projects of the area and utilize proven project management methods; Develop, oversee and implement a variety of specifically assigned projects and analyses for the unit/area; Lead, Oversee and/or Prepare annual roll forward of major projects (track expenditures for approved projects as well as future projects under consideration).  Oversee coordination and preparation of project attributes and descriptions.  Develop, oversee and Initiate appropriate levels of review within the business unit to ensure maintenance of adequate levels of internal control

  2. Lead, oversee and/or participate in the annual update of five-year financial plan models for all operating divisions using recent operating performance and revised initiatives.  Coordinate the distribution of results to executive management and other representatives of the University.  Lead analyses and coordinate activities associated with VUMC's annual capital budget for renovations and equipment expenditures including developing screening/prioritization criteria, designing/implementing management and monitoring reports and conducting meetings.  Lead, oversee and/or prepare medical center portion of VU Planning deliverables.  (VU multi-year Forecast and VU Five-year Capital Plan).

  4. Develop, prepare and maintain monthly executive cash flow reports and annual forecasts and budgets for VUMC, analyze actual cash flow/piston compared to annual budgets/forecasts and propose recommendations for improvement.  Coordinate with major divisions in finance to document/explain annual cash flow budgets, forecasts and variance-to-actual as necessary.  Analyze, review and accumulate data for reports, interpret and recommend outcomes, prepare projections for future periods. Present as required to executive management and officers of the University

  5. Assist, coordinate, and/or organize the capital project approval process/documents related to obtaining Chancellor/BOT approval and maintaining records and supporting analysis/materials.  Prepare materials for use by executive management and/or board of trust (MCAC and BOT).  Analyze and review information and reports. Present as required to executive management and officers of the University

Basic Qualifications


Job requires Bachelor's and 6 years of experience or the equivalent.
