Position Summary: Health Information Technology (HIT) at Michigan State University, located in East Lansing, Michigan, is searching for an accomplished individual to serve as manager of clinical systems; as part of the HIT clinical IT leadership team, the successful candidate will oversee the ongoing implementation, improvement, operation, and support of the GE Centricity Practice Solution EHR and supporting applications; this position has management responsibility for staff and is responsible for organizing resources for successful implementation and support within the organization; shares duties and responsibilities with other HIT Leaders for goals and objectives delivery, strategic and operations planning, and communication inside and outside the organization; manages the overall operation of the clinical information systems, including functional implementation, analysis, testing, and documentation; assists with the development of long-range and short-range plans for the clinical systems; coordinates the functional operation of new and existing systems; identifies workflow and data quality problems; is responsible for efficient and effective operation of department and for applying high degree of competence, knowledge, and creativity to resolving major problems; evaluates system operation and investigates improvements as necessary; collaborates with other departments in the selection and set-up of applications suitable to business needs; participates with the information technology team in the analysis, recommendation, preparation, and implementation of clinical solutions; is responsible for the meeting expected project implementation deadlines.

Support Staff: Minimum Requirements
A bachelor's degree in business management, business administration, computer science or other information technology related field; eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in the implementation and operation of clinical information systems in a healthcare setting including experience in complex/multi-facility environments; experience in managing application developers and system administrators, plus related technical expertise in the following technologies: HTML 5, Web application development and Microsoft SQL Server; enterprise management of medical devices, Windows Servers, Windows workstations, Virtualization, SAN, and Network equipment; HL7, DICOM, and IHE Profiles; experience managing and maintaining clinical systems for electronic health records, revenue cycle management and other supporting or ancillary applications; experience in software development lifecycle management (SDLM) and/or Information Technology Integrated Library (ITIL) IT Service management; deep understanding of the healthcare / healthcare IT issues, trends, environment and business implications of the technical and business disciplines impacting their management; experience developing budgets and effectively managing financial, physical and human resources; experience establishing, implementing, and managing effective work processes and organizational structure; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications: Clinical informatics certification (CPHIMS, CIIP, etc.); SDLM certifications; ITIL certifications; GE Centricity Practice Solutions; proven ability to lead and to effectively communicate with staff at all levels including a proven ability to communicate with technical and non-technical staff across multiple disciplines; demonstrated ability to meet deadlines without compromising close attention to detail and accuracy.
