Description


The Manager, Business Intelligence will support the development of new and emerging Business Intelligence services' offerings, content creation, and value propositions using institutionally designated approaches and technologies.

Key Functions and Expected Performances:

  1. Serve as project leader to ensure achievement of project objectives in data warehouse initiatives.
    1. Confirm project objectives, milestones, and success measurements
    2. Deliver project risk evaluation and contingency plan development, as appropriate
    3. Confirm communication, issue, and scope management strategy
  2. Demonstrate good team building and leadership skills
    1. Actively participate in critical planning, execution and implementation meetings for EDW projects
    2. Promote constructive formal and informal information sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration
    3. Communicate and model values and mission of Vanderbilt University through orientation, development, mentoring, performance counseling, and evaluation of staff
  3. Oversee development, maintenance, and enhancing the analytical capabilities and deliverables through use of the EDW
    1. Evaluate and advise on user facing tools for optimal delivery of information
    2. Advise presentation of information in user friendly formats to allow for ease of interpretation of data
    3. Provide innovative solutions
    4. Model effective communication of complex information, using both formal and informal presentation techniques
  4. Facilitate and manage development of business intelligence architecture through logical data models for the data warehouse
    1. Develop using scalable and enterprise methodologies
    2. Interview business users to obtain data requirements for new analytic applications
    3. Design conceptual and logical models for the data warehouse or data mart
    4. Communicate physical database designs to database administrator
    5. Evolve models to meet new and changing business requirements
    6. Develop process for capturing and maintaining metadata from all data warehousing components
  5. Contribute to continuous improvement of project management, architecture, and analytic processes
    1. Review and study the best practice documentation periodically to identify gaps and areas for improvements.
    2. Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement of the team or the institution
    3. Participate in professional and continued learning activities and share knowledge with colleagues


Basic Qualifications


Job requires Bachelor's and 3 years of experience or the equivalent.
