California State University Dominguez Hills was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University System. CSU Dominguez Hills is an urban, comprehensive public university that serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of approximately 14,000 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Located on a 346-acre site in the South Bay portion of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, CSU Dominguez Hills has a highly pluralistic student body, which includes a significant number of non-traditional, working adult students as well as approximately 2,000 students enrolled in distance learning programs statewide. Conditions of Employment:

Possession of a valid Driver's License is required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.

Candidates must pass a Live Scan (fingerprinting) background check as a requirement of employment.

The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Position Information:

This is a full-time management (MPP) position. MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President. MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.

This position is a "designated position" in the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices commission.

Department: University Advancement

The Division of University Advancement is charged with developing relationships with external constituencies that will lead to greater human and financial resources for the University. The areas of University Advancement include Communications/Public Affairs, Government & Community Relations, Alumni Relations, Ceremonies & Events, Development and Advancement Services.

Major Job Duties:

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Development, the Director of Development - College of Health, Human Services and Nursing and College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences evaluates fundraising prospects; helps develop solicitation and cultivation strategies and proposals from private sources for support for the fundraising priorities of the University. This individual serves as a key member in the Division of University Advancement for the campus. The position represents the campus in partnerships with local businesses, individuals and foundations to solicit support and funding for the University and performs other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience with and basic knowledge of foundation, individual and corporate giving; proven success in fundraising or sales-related proposal writing - including correct English grammar, spelling and punctuation; understanding of cultivation and solicitation process; strong interpersonal and communication skills; knowledge of office procedures and records management as it pertains to prospect development; ability to work independently, to be flexible, and to work as a positive team member. Expect to attend evening and weekend events as necessary.

Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience in the presentation of a variety of financial tools for donors and prospects; demonstrated success with all phases of either a "major gift" or equivalent experience, understanding of various prospect management software systems; experience in higher education.

Experience and Education:

Required Education:
Graduation from a four-year college/university or commensurate qualifying experience.

Required Experience:
Three to five years of professional fundraising or sales management experience.

Preferred Education:
Certificate programs or additional seminars in fundraising techniques and skills.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in higher education fundraising; public speaking skills/experience; knowledge of Excel and/or Access software and database management.

Salary Range: The salary is commensurate with experience.
