Job Description Summary

This position reports to the Dean, School of Health Sciences, and supervises the clinical coordinator and respiratory therapy faculty and one administrative assistant.

Duties & Responsibilities The Director manages the educational activities of the program including curriculum development, review, evaluation and maintenance of accreditation with COArc; instructs, evaluates and advises students; supervises faculty and staff; maintains professional board certification and state licensure; reviews and implements action plans to improve the quality and effectiveness of the program; evaluates student performance and maintains current records regarding student performance relative to program outcomes, course work, and performance in clinical settings; monitors and maintains respiratory equipment for use in the program; monitors and maintains budgets, expenditures and inventories; coordinates with the medical director and advisory committee to ensure success of the program; maintains professional board certification and state license by meeting the certification and licensure requirements; maintains active membership in organizations to keep abreast with current trends in the profession; and promotes a positive learning and working environment; and support the vision, mission, philosophy and values of San Juan College.
Qualifications

A Master’s degree in education, management, or health sciences, with 2 years teaching experience, and 3 years clinical experience is required. Doctorate degree and management experience is a major plus and is highly desirable. The successful candidate must possess an active national board certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and a valid State-license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), or be eligible for NM license; preferably board-certified Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS), and BLS/ACLS instructor. Experience as a seminar speaker and organizer, and working with diverse groups highly desirable. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; must be able to spend long periods of time standing and walking; stooping; bending. All candidates are subject to a Criminal Background Investigation prior to any offer of employment.
