Required Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in Business or a related field. Minimum of five years experience in a state procurement office. A complete understanding of the SUNY web-based system & procurement rules & regulations as they pertain to the Office of the New York State Comptroller, Office of General Services & SUNY System Administration. Excellent written & oral communication skills. Excellent problem solving & personal computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field. In lieu of degree, ten years of practical SUNY purchasing experience.

Brief Description of Duties:
    Enters all departmental requisitions into the SUNY web based electronic requisition system, issues purchase orders and files and scans paperwork into the Purchasing shared network drive.
    Assists in the creation of bid specifications.
    Contract monitoring.
Provides a broad range of professional support services to department heads or administrative officers within the Long Island State Veterans Home.
    Coordinates the personnel and business aspects of the department.
    Develops and maintains an effective system for the distribution of supplies and equipment to meet resident care needs, and keeps abreast of changes in cost, quality and availability of supplies.
    Plans, schedules and assigns work to support staff.
    Responsible for ensuring timely delivery of all supplies that are delivered throughout the facility.
    Delivers Oxygen “E” and “K” tanks to 1st floor storage area on a daily basis.
    Assists, when needed, with the reorganizing of par carts and primary Medical Supply Room.
    Receives delivery trucks, checks in orders and delivers accordingly. Must be able to lift, push, and pull heavy objects.
    Enters all on E-Req system and keeps paperwork relative to inventory used.
    Picks up medical specimens from units and delivers to Hospital daily.
    Sorts and delivers mail daily throughout the facility.
    Assists in inventory of capital medical equipment, records assets and equipment location.
    Interacts with all levels of administration and departmental staff.

Other duties as assigned.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from the Long Island State Veterans Home Employee Health Department, clear a background investigation; submit (3) written references, and provide a copy of the required license(s)/certificate(s).
