The Department of Language Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a teaching-stream position at the rank of Lecturer in the field of French Language Teaching. The Department is particularly interested in candidates with a demonstrated ability to teach a wide range of French language courses, and a demonstrated interest in experiential learning or distance education. The position start date is July 1, 2015.
The successful candidate must have by time of appointment a Ph.D. in French Studies (Literature, Linguistics, or Teaching and Learning) or a directly related field, and an established record of excellence in, and a demonstrated commitment to teaching French as a second language at the university level. Knowledge of new developments and best practices in language teaching, experience in course coordination and development of experiential learning activities would be an asset. The successful candidate will also be required to engage in undergraduate mentorship, to participate in the development of the French undergraduate curriculum, and to help foster a vibrant environment for French programs. Native or near-native proficiency in French and a functional level of English proficiency are required.
Appointments at the rank of Lecturer may be renewed annually to a maximum of five years. In the fifth year of service, Lecturers shall be reviewed and a recommendation made with respect to promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
