Assistant VP for Development

General Summary of Responsibilities: The AVP will report to the vice president for university advancement and will work closely with the development staff, vice presidents, deans, athletic director, selected faculty and staff, and other senior university leaders to manage fundraising efforts. He or she will work in tandem with alumni relations and other development colleagues, and will provide leadership in all aspects of development. The assistant vice president for development provides tactical leadership to the development operations of the University. The AVP supervises all development officers to include metrics development and monitoring. The AVP will assist the vice president with administrative functions including budget management, personnel management, prospect research, and proposal development. The AVP will maintain a portfolio of donor prospects.
Required Qualifications: The successful candidate will be results-driven and people-oriented, and possesses a strong work ethic and superb attention to detail. The candidate will also have proven communication skills with an ability to write and speak persuasively about the role of educational philanthropy. Night and weekend work and travel are required. Additional requirements are: * Bachelor's Degree. * Minimum of 7 years experience in major gift fundraising with a demonstrated record of negotiating and closing gifts of $50,000 and above. * Demonstrated experience in setting and obtaining goals. * Demonstrated proficiency in Raiser's Edge fundraising software. * Demonstrated experience in a position that required leadership skills. * Demonstrated experience in a position with supervisory skills. * Demonstrated experience in a position that required exceptional written, speaking and listening skills. * Demonstrated attention to detail. * Experience managing complex budgets.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 25 lbs., operate a motor vehicle, deliver presentations, and perform other expected office tasks.
