CONNECTICUT COLLEGE, a highly selective private liberal arts institution, seeks an experienced Financial Aid professional committed to working with diverse groups of students, to oversee the management and administration of the financial aid programs at Connecticut College. Under the direction of the Dean of Admission and Financial Aid, the Director of Financial Aid Services will provide leadership and management of a comprehensive financial aid program and will work in a collaborative environment to produce strategic analysis of financial aid expenditures and budget projections as well as creative packaging solutions. The Director must ensure compliance with federal, state and college regulations and policies, and provide timely communication to students, parents, survey agencies, and campus officials. It is increasingly important for the Director to understand and be responsive to the economic challenges families are facing beyond the standard needs analysis assessment during challenging economic times. The Director will also be responsible for: overseeing and training a staff of 7; designing, establishing and maintaining a financial aid program to accomplish the College’s goals and objectives; conducting statistical analyses and generating annual financial aid budget scenarios; coordinating financial aid audits; developing, enhancing and evaluating electronic applications and ensuring compliance with security protocols; providing advice and counseling students and parents, agencies and College staff on all aspects of financial aid programs, policies and procedures; processing emergency loans and performing needs analysis; creating and evaluating strategic communications including office web site, social media and net price calculator; developing and annually updating policies and procedures which support institutional goals and meet federal requirements; other duties as assigned or as necessary. Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of progressive financial aid experience required, Master’s degree preferred. Candidate must have knowledge of all aspects of financial aid programs, policies/procedures and federal, state and private assistance programs and laws. In addition, the Director must also possess high integrity, excellent oral and written communication skills with appropriate degrees of assertiveness, persuasiveness and consistency and have the ability to build and sustain key relationships with members of the college community. Knowledge of SCT Banner and reporting software is desirable. Travel required. Thorough applicant credentialing, including criminal records check will be conducted on the selected applicant.
