Position Summary:
The Grant Manager’s overall responsibility is to manage all grant related matters for faculty members (42), research scientists (4) and Professors of Practice (2) in the College of Computer and Information Science. This position will focus on all pre-award activities with regard to grants (internal and external) and gifts. This position will act as a secondary contact for all post-award matters and will oversee a team of 3 research staff.
He/she will meet and work closely with the Assistant/Associate Deans and research staff to develop research funding projections, regularly report on the status of funding goals and develop strategies to advance the College’s research mission. Administrator will keep abreast of developments in government policies and grants administration by attending conferences and workshops and networking with other Research Administration professionals. He/she will also work in tandem with the Office of Research Administration and Finance (ORAF) to educate the faculty about policies and procedures and to ensure compliance.
Challenges include the growing numbers of new faculty/research scientists and professors of practice in the College who are actively pursuing research funding and the number of interdisciplinary appointments in the College, which makes the administration of grants more complex. The diverse research interests of interdisciplinary hires means working with an increasing variety of agencies and foundations often presenting unique challenges in proposal preparation and grants administration.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years’ of research administration experience required, preferably in an academic setting. Master’s degree and CRA preferred. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to multi-task, set priorities and produce under deadline pressure. Must be experienced and have advanced knowledge of both pre- and post-award activities and have strong computer skills. Supervisory experience required.
